My Morning Menu

I briefly discussed my morning menu in this post, but I wanted to take the opportunity to expand on it. It’s been something that has helped me stay consistent with my goals and deal with failure. Takings steps toward a goal when you have a setback sometimes is difficult, but having something to focus on helps move the needle a bit each day.

I will say that morning is my favorite time of the day, and especially now that Arizona weather is getting cooler, I enjoy being outside.

My Morning Menu

  • Wake Up (I don’t have an alarm because my husband is an early riser, and so is our puppy.)
  • Drink water. This sounds like a no-brainer, but I make myself drink water before coffee, so I actually hydrate myself.
  • Read a few pages from whatever book I’m reading
  • Drink my coffee with protein while I read (because if I want to work out, doing it with only coffee in my stomach is a recipe for disaster)
  • Listen to Jay Shetty on my Calm app (Did you know it’s free for teachers??)
  • Journaling
  • Listen to podcasts or audiobooks while I prepare for my workout or the day.
  • Lately, I’ve been enjoying a 30-minute morning walk before I start the day because the weather allows for it.
  • Eat breakfast and send everyone off to school.

Some mornings, I don’t have time for all this, but I always meditate and write. These routines change with the seasons of life, but it’s a far cry from the days I woke up and immediately got on my phone, which made me anxious and started my day in the wrong place.

As with everything, find what works for you. This can take some playing around, but it will be worth it.
