This year, I turn 43. I realize I still have a bit to go before 50, but the first 43 years flew by, so I want to ensure I live life to the fullest. So, I want to create a midcentury me list instead of a bucket one. Things I want to do before my midcentury celebration. I refuse to be sad about getting older. It’s such a privilege. I plan to edit and change my mind as I go on, but this is where I’ll start. I will also not commit to 50 things because that is overkill.
The List: Midcentury Me
- Get my doctoral degree- Anticipated 2026
- Write parts of my dissertation on our family farm in Iowa
- Go to the Albuquerque International Balloon Festival
- Visit Jackson Hole, Wyoming
- Transition careers after receiving a doctorate because that is really the point of getting one
- Take a month off and make no plans
- Take a solo trip
- Visit four Presidential Libraries
- Visit France and the grave of my great great uncle who is buried in the Argonne Forest (he was killed in WWI)
- Work my way through Julia Child’s “Mastering the Art of French Cooking” (not all recipes, just the ones I actually want to try)
What would you add?
To be edited and continued…
